Food and Hunger
We work in the U.S. and around the world to help alleviate hunger and its root causes– including poverty– through the Presbyterian Hunger Program. Joining Hands is the international component of this work. Sustainable Living and Earth Care Concerns works at the intersection of hunger, poverty and environmental degradation such as climate change. Presbyterian World Mission has several mission co-workers who support the work of Joining Hands, and others who work with global partners in agricultural development, sustainable farming and food security and sovereignty. Presbyterian Women’s Thank and Birthday Offerings award grants to programs and projects that are working toward sustainable solutions to hunger around the world.
Presbyterian Mission also promotes fair trade food, including programs that purchase fair trade coffee, and sponsors an Earth Care Congregation certification program.
Poverty
The Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People provides grants to those living in poverty to help improve their lives. More information can be found here.
