Faith & Worship

New Worshiping Community “Faith Works” takes church to streets in their neighborhood in Paterson, New Jersey, bringing ‘wings and prayer’ to those around them.

Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world. (Directory for Worship, W-1.1001)

Our site is designed to provide resources to pastors and church leaders who are creating worship services, ideas for both traditional church services and more contemporary congregations. You can find information for sermon preparation, prayers and hymns in the pages of our website. These pages also have a robust index describing special days and emphases within the church, suggested hymns, orders of service and suggested scriptures for pastoral and occasional services, and detailed explanations of sacraments. You may find these resources helpful if you are new to the church and would like to know more about the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) worship service, or if you are a pastor planning services.

preachWe provide lectionary scripture readings, which you can find on our home page here.

If you have broader questions about faith and what Presbyterians believe, you can find answers to those questions here.
