{"id":1382,"date":"2020-04-20T21:02:18","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T21:02:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.presbyterianmission.org\/weekly-offerings\/?p=1382"},"modified":"2020-04-20T21:02:40","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T21:02:40","slug":"givingtuesdaynow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centernet.pcusa.org\/weekly-offerings\/2020\/04\/20\/givingtuesdaynow\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting Our Young People on #GivingTuesdayNow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, believing that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.presbyterianmission.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/Giving-Tuesday-May-2020-Facebook-Post-500x419.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centernet.pcusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/Giving-Tuesday-May-2020-Facebook-Post-500x419.png 500w, https:\/\/centernet.pcusa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/Giving-Tuesday-May-2020-Facebook-Post.png 940w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/>We are encouraging congregations to consider a #GivingTuesdayNow campaign for the <a href=\"https:\/\/specialofferings.pcusa.org\/offering\/pentecost\/\">Pentecost Offering<\/a>, so that we can continue to support our young people, especially during these times.<\/p>\n<p>One of the best parts about the Pentecost Offering is that it is a shared offering. Sixty percent comes to the PC(USA) to support the Young Adult Volunteer Program, Ministries with Youth, and the <em>Educate a Child, Transform the World<\/em> national initiative. The remaining 40% stays with your congregation to do your own work in supporting young people in your community, whether that be through a backpack feeding program, providing resources for youth in foster care, helping young adults transitioning out of foster care, or anything else you feel called to support.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Below are resources you can use for promoting the Pentecost Offering for #GivingTuesdayNow:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/ZVgJGS6UFRctdj2i6\">Pentecost Offering promotional images<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1kXbgXLDQ_gRQloNLZ-wuvj00D5GaW20s\">#GivingTuesdayNow logos and graphics<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/sh\/vc1yiet8uzekifm\/AAAHUVaXCKIOh3tGoehEW0P1a?dl=0\">Testimonial videos from Young Adult Volunteers<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/specialofferings.pcusa.org\/resource\/weekend-backpack-program-feeds-kids\/\">Minute for Mission on how one congregation used their 40%<\/a> (more can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/specialofferings.pcusa.org\/offering\/pentecost\/#resources\">here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/specialofferings.pcusa.org\/page\/pentecost-covid19\/\">Additional resources for the Pentecost Offering during COVID-19<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On May 5, encourage your members to give to the Pentecost Offering through your congregation, whether online (if that is an option for you), or by writing a check to the church and noting &#8220;Pentecost Offering\u201d on the memo line.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions about participating in #GivingTuesdayNow, please contact mission specialist Lauren Rogers at <a href=\"mailto:lauren.rogers@pcusa.org\">lauren.rogers@pcusa.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s come together on May 5 to illustrate through our generosity support for our young people, who we must remember are also being affected by the current crisis in many short- and long-term ways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020, believing that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad.
