Passion and Mission<\/strong> – Two words that describe the volunteer Ambassadors of the Special Offerings Leader Support Network.  Many of the volunteers are pastors. Many are ruling elders. Some are young. Some are retired. The two common threads among them are a passion for God’s work in the world; and a heart for local, national and global mission. The Office of Special Offerings partners with these volunteers, who are Presbyterians that support Special Offerings not only through giving to their church but also by giving of time and energy.<\/p>\n

We ask these volunteers to reach out to local churches in their area.  They reach out by phone calls, emails, letters or in person visits. They communicate their passion for mission carried out by Presbyterians because Presbyterians make it possible. They educate on each of the four Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Special Offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, the Pentecost Offering, Peace & Global Witness Offering and the Christmas Joy Offering.<\/p>\n

Each year the volunteers attend a training retreat and get to meet people who have been supported by funds from the Special Offerings. Last year in New Orleans, we met a Presbyterian Hunger Program partner community farm, a Presbyterian Disaster Assistance partner building houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and we met with the Young Adult Volunteers in New Orleans. In January 2016, we will meet with partners supported by funds from the Special Offerings in the New York area.<\/p>\n

We are always looking for new volunteer Ambassadors – to spread the word about Special Offerings to congregations and presbyteries that have no personal relationship with the mission and ministries supported by these offerings.
