Celebrating the Peace & Global Witness Offering with Our Youth

Engaging the children of your congregation with the four General Assembly mandated churchwide Special Offerings has never been easier or more important. There are numerous ways children can connect with the Peace & Global Witness Offering. We have a number of resources available online to help you as you engage your young people.

This year’s curriculum was written by Jenna Campbell, a Certified Christian Educator serving as the Director of Children and Youth Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This includes:

Through these lessons, children will be inspired by the variety of ways the PC(USA) is involved in peace and reconciliation efforts around the world as well as consider ways they can share the peace of Christ in their own lives. Jenna also wrote the Children’s Sermon and the resource for Connecting Worship and the Congregation, which includes great ideas for artwork, hymns, and prayers.

Finally, invite the children of your congregation to help in putting together a Peace & Global Witness display, whether it be for their classroom or the sanctuary. We encourage you to consider allowing your young people to draw pictures for the display depicting what peace looks like to them. Follow these easy instructions and you will have your very own Offering display in no time.

If you use any of our materials in promoting the Peace & Global Witness Offering, we invite you to share feedback on how it was received. We are also available to answer any questions you might have about these or any other Special Offerings resource. Feel free to reach out to us at 800-728-7228 ext. 5047 or specialofferings@pcusa.org.

May the peace of Christ be with you, “at all times, in all ways.”  (2 Thess. 3:16)

PS – If you don’t have many youth under 18 in your congregation, you can get creative and engage your more seasoned members in any of the activities above! Fun and learning are for Christians of every age!
