The 2018 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women begins tomorrow, August 2nd, in Louisville, KY, marking the celebration’s 30th anniversary. The Special Offerings and Presbyterian Giving Catalog team will be celebrating, too, sharing the work of the whole church with Presbyterian women from all over the United States in the exhibit hall at the Galt House.

We had such a great time with our Giving Catalog #MaskParadeFarm at General Assembly that we wanted to bring the farm to this event, too! Stop by booth #4 to try out the Catalog’s newest activity by posing for a picture with Penelope Pig and her friends and share it on social media using #MaskParadeFarm. The tone of the activity is light and joyful, but the impact of sustainable agriculture projects supported through the Presbyterian Giving Catalog is profound.
Hang out with Jerry Can
The Presbyterian Giving Catalog will also be hosting a special dinner on Friday, (5-7pm) at our headquarters just two blocks from the Gathering. Co-Moderator of the 223rd General Assembly, Vilmarie Cintrón-Olivieri will make a special appearance over local BBQ and share her insights and experiences using the Presbyterian Giving Catalog in her PW group and congregation. Recently she posted on Facebook “Thank you for the work you do around the world through the ministry of this catalog. Thank you for providing diverse ways to contribute to the mission of the church.” She will kick-off the event which features another special guest, Jerry Can, the star of our brand new Jerry Can Curriculum – great for children’s Sunday school or Vacation Bible School. Don’t forget about Special Offerings!
Right next door to the Giving Catalog booth will be Special Offerings at booth #5 where we will be celebrating all congregations who faithfully support the Offerings, but particularly those that are Four for Four! What does it mean to be Four for Four? This means your congregation participates in all four Special Offerings – One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peace & Global Witness, and Christmas Joy – every calendar year. Stop by to learn if your church is Four for Four, and if not, learn more about how we can to make that happen together.
We’ll also be talking about the upcoming Peace & Global Witness Offering, taking place on World Communion Sunday (October 7). We can ensure your congregation or mid-council has the appropriate resources and discuss with you the best ways to promote this offering. Need ideas for how to use your retained 25% of the offering? We have those, too!
