Malnutrition is preventable. By next year, approximately 14 million children are expected to be severely malnourished. Roughly 811 million people worldwide face hunger now. Investing in nutrition saves lives.<\/p>\n

We encourage you to reach out to your members of Congress to ask them to support the Global Malnutrition Prevention and Treatment Act of 2022<\/a> (H.R. 4693\/S. 2956). The bill makes nutrition an even higher priority for the U.S. government, led by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). It establishes a five-year strategy to support countries in implementing their plans to prevent and treat malnutrition. This bill will impact the nutrition of tens of millions of women and young children.<\/p>\n

Better nutrition for women and children will enable countries to improve the health of the population as a whole, send more children to school, and strengthen their economies. The Presbyterian Hunger Program\u2019s longtime partner Bread for the World<\/a> and its partners are asking Congress to provide $300 million for global nutrition in the fiscal year 2023 budget<\/a> to honor U.S. commitments, demonstrate leadership that will encourage other donors to contribute, and galvanize much-needed efforts to end all forms of malnutrition worldwide.<\/p>\n
