In her 15th year of teaching Christian Education at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va., Karen-Marie Yust had never received an invitation to be part of a conversation like this. She, along with faculty and staff representing seven of the 10 PC(USA) seminaries, gathered around a table last week to offer input on Christian formation — that is shifting its focus from age and stages ministry to intergenerational faith formation.

Union Presbyterian Seminary announces faculty appointments

Upon the recommendation of the faculty and the president, the board of trustees of Union Presbyterian Seminary has appointed the Rev. Dr. Rebecca L. Davis as associate professor of Christian education, with tenure, at the Charlotte campus; and Dr. James E. Taneti as assistant professor of world Christianity at the Richmond campus. Taneti’s primary role will be as director of the Syngman Rhee Global Mission Center for Christian Education.

Katie Cannon, Doug Oldenburg to be honored at PC(USA) General Assembly

The Committee on Theological Education and the Theological Education Fund are honoring two distinguished leaders in theological education at the 2018 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) meeting in St. Louis. This year’s honorees are Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon, professor of theology and ethics at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and Douglas Oldenburg, former President of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and a former General Assembly moderator.
