Two years after floods, presbytery works to support neighbors impacted by hurricanes

More than 60 members and staff of at least eight churches in Eastern and Central Kentucky’s Presbytery of Transylvania gathered in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church of Lexington late Sunday afternoon to fill large buckets with a plethora of supplies needed to begin recovery from a natural disaster like a hurricane or a flood. 

‘A mixed bag of destruction’

Days and weeks after summer flooding ravaged various presbyteries this summer, the extent of the damage continues to be assessed. But the known effects have been significant, from displacing school children and pastors to damaging church basements and parishioners’ homes.

PC(USA) leadership takes part in COVID-19 vaccination effort

The Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, the Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett, and about 20 other faith leaders were in the Rotunda at the state Capitol Building in Frankfurt, Kentucky on Thursday to receive their vaccination against COVID-19 and encourage others in their faith communities to do the same when it’s their turn.

‘Spread love, not germs’

Pastoral leaders in the Presbytery of Transylvania are loving their neighbors by wearing their masks, and they are encouraging others to do likewise.
