The Poor People’s Campaign held a virtual pep rally this week to encourage the public to head to Washington, D.C., for an in-person Moral March that’s being organized to stimulate voter turnout and push for policies to uplift people who are struggling under the weight of poverty.
On Thursday, members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), A Corporation Board of Directors were briefed on the proposed unified budgets for 2025 and 2026, budgets that will authorize the upcoming work not only of the Administrative Services Group, but the Presbyterian Mission Agency and Office of the General Assembly as those two entities continue to unify under the guidance of the Unification Commission.
Against the African beats of 2020’s global anthem “Jerusalema,” with the lyrics in Zulu language, “Jerusalema ikhaya lami Ngilondoloze Uhambe nami,” which translates to “Jerusalem, my home, Save me! Join me. Don’t leave me here,” the Ecumenical Women’s daily worship service at the 68th Commission on the Status of Women began in Tillman Chapel Tuesday in the Church Center for the United Nations.
Empowering women and tackling poverty will be at the top of the agenda as a joint delegation of about 50 people from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and Presbyterian Women (PW) heads to New York to take part in activities surrounding the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68).

What are the resources we have plenty of, and how do we need to look at the way ministry is going into the future?’”

During the first of two days of in-person meetings Thursday, the Unification Commission heard an update from Acting Stated Clerk the Rev. Bronwen Boswell on how a pilot program unifying communications ministries in the Office of the General Assembly and the Presbyterian Mission Agency is proceeding.
Meeting Saturday via Zoom, the Unification Commission voted to approve the formation a small task force to work with staff to review its charter “and all polity, process and procedural issues” related to the commission’s upcoming report to the 226th General Assembly next year and make recommendations to the Unification Commission at its next meeting, set for Jan. 18-20, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky.
