The All Agency Review Committee is spending three days – Jan. 22-24 – with its members sitting in a conference room at the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) national offices in downtown Louisville, figuring out what to include in their report to the 2018 General Assembly.
The 2020 Vision Team is trying to work its way through a first draft of its report to the 2018 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) – hoping to hit the right mix of being short, yet challenging; being grounded in biblical history and also looking forward. For sure, it’s an intricate dance.
The 2020 Vision Team continues to struggle for clarity – figuring out exactly what to report to the 2018 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A); how to say not too much or too little; and how to make its work resonate with congregations.
The Way Forward Commission has begun to discern next steps for its work – including considering some issues it may be able to act on quickly, and starting to figure out how to organize its longer-term work.
This is the big picture meeting – when the 12 members of the Way Forward Commission try to get their minds and hearts around the work that lies before them. The commission has a daunting job – the 2016 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) created it to “study and identify a vision for the structure and function of the General Assembly entities of the PC(USA).”
