Webinar helps Presbyterians explore and enjoy their ‘Third Thirty’

With “Boomers and beyond” as his target audience, Chris Pomfret, the treasurer and a board member of the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network, led a webinar last week that helped Presbyterians in their “Third Thirty” — those 60 and older — to think about and hold conversations on what they hope to accomplish late in life. More than 60 people attended.

“Expressions of Older Adult Ministry,” a new online resource created by Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network in partnership with the Office of Christian Formation, got a rollout last week during an informational and inspirational webinar attended by nearly 50 people.

The Rev. Dr. Keith Albans, who served 16 years as the director of Chaplaincy and Spirituality at Methodist Homes in the United Kingdom, is something of a wordsmith. His prodigious abilities were on display during the University of Waterloo’s Conrad Grebel University College webinar, “It’s How You Say It: Exploring the Language and Imagery of Aging.” The hourlong event was recommended by the Presbyterian Older Adult Ministry Network and was attended by more than 100 people from around the world.

Office of Christian Formation empowers faith formation leaders with monthly office hours

“How many people are out of power?” was the opening question in a Tuesday night call between Christian formation leaders hosted by the Office of Christian Formation of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. Mission associate Miatta Wilson welcomed a group of a dozen church leaders, saying, “It’s great to have people who are from various different parts of the country and time zones.”

The Presbyterian Older Adults Ministries Network took the opportunity Sunday evening to honor “the saints among us” with a hybrid worship service originating from Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church in Baltimore and witnessed by people in nearly 20 states.
