Voting “with regret,” the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Personnel and Nominating Committee reported to the entire board Friday that budget restraints and the “current COVID reality” will mean no pay increases during 2021 for PMA staff.

Stony Point Center discerning a new vision

Due to the ongoing financial impact of COVID-19, the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) is further reducing operations at Stony Point Center (SPC), which will serve as a small retreat center moving forward. In order to reduce expenses and allow time for transition, the small-group retreat model will utilize only the Gilmor Sloane and Allison houses. The main campus will be maintained but will not house guests as the PMA begins a period of prayerful discernment on SPC’s future and explores long-term viability, both missionally and financially.

A coordinated effort

Staff and board members from the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board, the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly and the A Corporation Board are working to build a Coordinating Table designed to enhance discernment and collaboration among the three agencies and help them put together a unified budget process and document ahead of the 225th General Assembly (2022).

Dipping Deeper: forming lifelong disciples

More than 50 Christian educators, pastors, volunteers and others are taking part in a three-day virtual workshop “Dipping Deeper into the Well of PC(USA) Ministries,” Oct. 5–7. Sessions are focused on the formation of lifelong disciples who are grounded in the Reformed tradition and equipped for the work of evangelism, peacemaking, witnessing and working toward justice and equity for all God’s people.

PC(USA), Mid-Kentucky Presbytery to hold Breonna Taylor vigil

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Presbytery of Mid-Kentucky will host Remembering Breonna Taylor: Vigil for Justice at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday at Beulah Presbyterian Church, 6704 Bardstown Road in Louisville.
