Joint session of PMA Board and COGA engages in ‘Community Conversations’

Members of the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly and the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board gathered this morning in a joint session, joining staff members in a series of “Community Conversations” to discuss how the church can move forward during changing times. Among the issues discussed were cultural shifts, the decline in church membership, and faithfulness and sustainability within the church.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance visits Texas panhandle in the wake of wildfires

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance recently sent a National Response Team to the panhandle of Texas. Recent wildfires have left four people dead, more than 350,000 acres damaged, and as many as 10,000 horses and cattle displaced. An estimated 2,500 animals are believed to have perished in the rapidly moving fires.

Each year, on a Sunday during Lent, Presbyterians take a day to celebrate the mission and ministry of the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People (SDOP). For nearly 50 years SDOP has helped poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged communities by establishing partnerships within those communities to address issues such as mass incarceration, labor and worker rights, clean water and natural resources, youth empowerment, and ending the exploitation of immigrants.
