Longtime Presbyterian mission co-worker Leisa Wagstaff is currently “sheltering in place” as fighting escalates in Juba, South Sudan. Efforts are underway to evacuate her to a safe location. Other South Sudan mission co-workers are currently traveling in the U.S., visiting churches.
Mission co-workers share God’s love through multifaceted ministries
For PC(USA) mission co-workers in Latin America and the Caribbean, doing the work of the Lord can mean serving in many ways. A few examples:
In May, Presbyterian World Mission received news of the deaths of two career Presbyterian missionaries in the Middle East, each with more than 40 years of service.
Programs Encourage People to Hear God’s Voice in Biblical Stories
Jesus used stories and parables to educate and inspire his followers. Presbyterian World Mission and New
Castle Presbytery are carrying on that tradition in creative ways by publishing resources that engage readers in the work, prayers and practice of mission.
Presbyterians and mission partners spread God’s love through service
The Asia referred to in the Bible is but a small area, compared with what the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) now refers to as Asia and the Pacific. At the same time, the call to communicate the good news to all has not faded over centuries. The way in which we work with global partners to convey the message of the unconditional love of God now happens in thoughtful and creative ways as well as in a wide variety of contexts.
Presbyterians do mission in partnership, which involves listening attentively and prayerfully to our global partners as we engage together in God’s mission, and they have asked us to work more strategically. As a result, we have identified three critical global initiatives: evangelism, reconciliation and poverty alleviation. In conjunction with those goals, we have launched three campaigns: Train Leaders for Community Transformation, Speak Up —Stop Sexual Violence and Educate a Child, Transform the World. US Presbyterians, mission co-workers and our African partners are engaged in exciting work around these campaigns:
