The Rev. David George, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Sulphur, Oklahoma, arrived at the church Saturday morning, October 12, as firefighters were extinguishing the last of the flames from a fire that had engulfed the church.
The last several weeks have been a very active period of severe weather in the United States, highlighting the need for church and community preparedness and the importance of partnerships and collaboration to bounce back from and potentially lessen the impact of disasters, such as tornadoes and flooding.
“Do you feel like you belong?”
That’s what the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Rigby, the W.C. Brown Professor of Theology at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, asked the people attending Saturday’s Covenant Conversation at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Rigby was the keynote speaker.
The Presbytery of Indian Nations is engaging the growing Hispanic community in Central Oklahoma through the New Hope Hispanic Center, which offers English as a second language classes, family wellness programs, Bible study and sports.
