New Mexico group empowers refugee women

When Nkazi Sinandile learned that refugee women in her adopted city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, were having trouble retaining employment because of various barriers, she created another outlet for their talents in 2009.

For three days, I joined other Young Adult Volunteers and a diverse group of Christians as we walked from Ghost Ranch to the Sanctuario de Chimayo, a historic church in northern New Mexico. The tiring, trying and transformative 50-mile journey through the beautiful countryside continues to color my spiritual growth. Reflecting now, more than a year later, I smile, remembering a poignant moment of the trek: when we held others in intercessional prayer.

Menaul School receives $1.5 million gift

Menaul School in Albuquerque much to celebrate in 2017. The day/boarding school, founded in 1896, recently received a $1.5 million gift from the Collie and Hill families, longtime supporters of the school.

Young Adult Volunteer program adds Albuquerque site for 2017-18

The Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has announced the addition of Albuquerque as a site for its 2017-18 program year. Partnered with the Presbytery of Santa Fe, the site has been years in development and will be the only new YAV site added in 2017-18. Seventy-nine YAVs are serving six international-based and 14 U.S.-based sites in the 2016-17 program year.
