Stated Clerk joins other US faith leaders urging both presidential campaigns to address human rights in Middle East within first 100 days in office

The Executive Director and Stated Clerk of the interim unifying agencies, the Rev. Jihyun Oh, joined more than a dozen U.S. Christian faith leaders in signing a letter addressed to both presidential campaigns requesting each “work toward a just and permanent solution that addresses the core issues” in the ongoing violence in Gaza and Israel-Palestine.

Presbyterians urged to contact their senators on initiatives that limit free speech, advocacy for Palestinian rights

As college students and others protest the war in Gaza and urge divestment from companies that profit from violations of the rights of Palestinians — and call for an end to U.S. military support for those human rights violations — the PC(USA)’s Office of Public Witness is asking Presbyterians to oppose a pair of bills already passed in the U.S. House of Representatives that OPW says will limit free speech and advocacy rights in this country.

Presbyterians urged to contact Congress on reauthorizing the Farm Bill

The PC(USA)’s Office of Public Witness issued an Action Alert Tuesday encouraging Presbyterians to, among other things, urge their U.S. Senators and House of Representatives member to quickly reauthorize the five-year Farm Bill, which expires in 2023 and provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and other anti-hunger initiatives to millions of residents as well as support to the nation’s two million farmers.

Raising their voices against gun violence

The Rev. Jimmie Hawkins of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was among thousands of people who attended the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., last weekend to persuade elected officials to take meaningful action to stop the gun violence that’s ravaging the nation.
