2023 international peacemakers
Yuriy Lifanse has been named as a 2023 International Peacemaker for the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program. He is a leader in the Community of Sant’Egidio, an international lay Catholic association committed to social service, which was founded in 1968 and has about 50,000 members worldwide.
A human rights activist who serves refugees and asylum seekers in Greece will be bringing her message of solidarity and inclusion to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) later this year while serving as an International Peacemaker.
Overcoming conflicts that arise between people of different faiths in Indonesia will be discussed by an International Peacemaker who plans to travel to the United States later this year to shed light on issues affecting her country.
Amira Barham, a Palestinian Christian social worker, will serve as one of the PC(USA)’s 2023 International Peacemakers. She hopes to enlighten American Christians on the plight of Palestinians living under occupation.
Matilda Parker, a ruling elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, will visit U.S. churches later this year as one of up to 10 International Peacemakers. The International Peacemaker visits are sponsored by the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program.
Mid councils, churches and other institutions will have a chance to receive in-person visits from International Peacemakers again this fall.
