LOUISVILLE – Keeping Faith, the video newsletter from Tony De La Rosa, Interim Executive Director of Presbyterian Mission Agency was published earlier today. De La Rosa was at Westwood Presbyterian Church in West Louisville to showcase how Westwood creatively responded to what generations of African Americans have come to believe, “that life is cheap, and the cheapest of all are black lives.”

De La Rosa also drew attention to “Freedom Rising,” the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) outreach to young African American males. This new initiative, approved by the 222nd General Assembly in Portland, Oregon calls for the church to support pilot programs to assist African American males in five cities: Baltimore—where General Assembly will meet in 2020—Charlotte, Cleveland, New York and Pittsburgh.

The General Assembly encouraged all congregations to support Freedom Rising by donating their portion of the Peace & Global Witness Offering, received Sunday, October 2, to help fund programs in one of the five cities at presbyterianfoundation.org/freedom.

Keeping Faith also features International Peacemakers who are traveling around the U.S. visiting Presbyterian churches, and profiles a Louisiana flood survivor who recently lost her husband, a Presbyterian pastor.

Keeping Faith is available in English with English, Korean and Spanish subtitles.
