LOUISVILLE — A fire heavily damaged a building on the Princeton Theological Seminary campus Tuesday.

The fire was reported at 5:15 a.m. Eastern Time. It was on the third floor of Lenox House, a historic building on the seminary campus in Princeton, New Jersey.

The fire significantly damaged the building’s roof, according to Princeton Seminary President M. Craig Barnes. “We are grateful that no one was hurt in the early morning fire of Lenox House, which is used for some faculty offices,” Barnes said. “We have been given reason to believe the building can be restored.”

Lenox House is located on the rear of the seminary property. News reports from the scene show flames shooting through the roof of the building, but firefighters were able to get the fire under control as of about 7:30 a.m., according to media reports.

Princeton Theological Seminary is the oldest Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) seminary. It was established in 1812.
