Husband and wife team will serve as 10th president, first executive vice president

KINGVILLE, Texas — The Presbyterian Pan American School in Kingsville, Texas, announces the election of the new collaborative leadership team of Dr. Gordon Allen Govens and the Rev. Ruth-Aimée Belonni-Rosario Govens.
In a news release, the Christian college-preparatory boarding school said that Gordon Govens will serve as the school’s 10th president. Belonni-Rosario Govens will serve as Presbyterian Pan American School’s first executive vice president, with their service beginning Monday, July 27.
Together they will share responsibility for the governance of Pan Am and ensure that it fulfills its mission to prepare its students to be leaders in their communities guided by Christian values.
“We are so excited to have this dynamic couple of such tremendous breadth of experience co-lead this school and seize this opportunity to inspire our students to live impactful Christian lives,” said David Salyer, who chairs the school’s Board of Trustees.
Presbyterian Pan American School is a secondary school for national and international students and is related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Gordon Govens recently served as assistant professor of History at Kennesaw State University in Georgia, where he was also the director of Honors Cohort Programs and Special Initiatives. He graduated from Swarthmore College with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, earned a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, and a Master of Divinity, Master of Theology and Ph.D. in the History of Christianity (Reformation) from Princeton Theological Seminary. He grew up in North Philadelphia, is a movie fanatic, and enjoys playing golf and mentoring young adults to become leaders.
“I am thrilled that God has called me to continue Pan Am’s story that began over 100 years ago,” he said. “Our goal is to cultivate its students to become global leaders who serve others with integrity and bring positive change to the world.”
Belonni-Rosario Govens has served as chief enrollment management officer at Columbia Theological Seminary, as dean of Admissions at Lancaster Theological Seminary and as associate director of Admissions at Princeton Theological Seminary. She graduated from the Universidad de Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management and from Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. She is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). She grew up in Puerto Rico and enjoys listening to people’s call narratives and vocational experiences, the beach, sports, and spending quality time with her family.
“I rejoice in following God’s call to educate eager young minds for effective leadership, as we prepare them to live out their vocations,” she said.
