LOUISVILLE – Journey to the Cross, the annual devotional series for Lent, will return to the daily devotional website d365 beginning Ash Wednesday, March 1.
This popular series — which features scripture, prayer, and meditative thoughts accompanied by gentle music — is designed to help Christ-followers in their personal preparation as they follow the star toward Jesus.
The ecumenical team of writers includes Rob Mueller, Kellie Wilson, Brian Foreman, Marissa Galván-Valle, Kathy Culmer, Kristen Pope, Matt Andrews, and Tyler Spradling. Journey to the Cross also features a collection of instrumental arrangements from Mark Hayes. The musical reflections provide a familiar and gentle backdrop that accompanies the daily devotional.
Scheduled to run through the Second Sunday of Easter, April 23, Journey to the Cross is part of the year‐round devotional site, d365.org, a ministry of Passport, Inc. — a national nonprofit ministry — and sponsored ecumenically by Passport Inc., the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) through the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Ministries with Youth, and The Episcopal Church.
The site d365.org, which hosts daily devotionals and three seasonal series for Lent, Advent and the beginning of the school year, attracts over 2 million visitors annually. Daily devotionals are available on the web as well as through the free iOS app.
“There are many excellent resources for Lent/Easter that are developed with adults in mind,” says Gina Yeager Buckley, associate for Ministries with Youth. “Journey to the Cross, as a part of the d365 family, is created with youth and young adult faith formation in mind with illustrations, concepts and theological connections that speak to the daily lives of young people.”
Presbyterian writers for Journey to the Cross 2017 are Rob Mueller, pastor of Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas, and Marissa Galván-Valle, Mission Associate for Hispanic/Latino Curriculum Development for the Presbyterian Mission Agency and pastor of Beechmont Presbyterian Church in Louisville.
