LOUISVILLE — Westminster John Knox Press is proud to announce the publication of two new sermon collections.

The first, “The Collected Sermons of Walter Brueggemann, Volume 3” completes the three-volume set by beloved Old Testament scholar Walter Brueggemann. The collection contains a foreword from Barbara Brown Taylor and features 60 sermons, preached mostly over the last five years.

For Brueggemann’s final public appearances, he preached at various churches and the Festival of Homiletics, including his last address there in 2018. Most sermons are based on lectionary texts, with numerous sermons on Advent-Christmas and Lent-Easter texts. A handful also offer inspiration for special occasions or themes such as confirmation, evangelism, and funerals. Volume 3 of “The Collected Sermons of Walter Brueggemann” completes the 3-volume set, now available for $99.

Westminster John Knox Press is also proud to release “The Collected Sermons of David Bartlett” with a foreword from Leonora Tubbs Tisdale. Bartlett, who died in 2017, was known for his quick wit, passion for justice and deep knowledge of the Bible. He was also coeditor of Feasting on the World.

A New Testament scholar, Bartlett spent his career teaching and mentoring preachers at the University of Chicago Divinity School, Yale Divinity School, Union Presbyterian Seminary and Columbia Theological Seminary, as well as serving as a pastor in American Baptist churches. These 52 sermons showcase Bartlett at his best, including several multiweek sermon series like “Who is Jesus?” and “Great Words of Faith” in addition to individual sermons.

“The Collected Sermons of Walter Brueggemann, Volume 3,” and “The Collected Sermons of David Bartlett” are now available through Westminster John Knox Press and other major retailers.

Walter Brueggemann is an Old Testament scholar, teacher, and preacher. He spent most of his career at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. His books include “Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now,” “The Prophetic Imagination” and “An Introduction to the Old Testament.”

David L. Bartlett was the J. Edward and Ruth Cox Lantz Professor Emeritus of Christian Communication at Yale Divinity School and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of New Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. An ordained minister of the American Baptist Churches USA, he served congregations in Minnesota, Illinois and California. He was the author of 18 books, two of which he coauthored with his wife, Carol.
