New board book from co-authors Elizabeth F. Caldwell and Theodore Hiebert celebrates diversity

New publication features bright, ethnically diverse artwork by Katie Yamasaki

LOUISVILLE – “God’s Big Plan,” a new board book by noted Christian educator Elizabeth F. Caldwell and Old Testament scholar Theodore Hiebert, is now available.

Ideal for children ages 0-3, the board book helps introduce readers to the wonderful diversity of our world. It is adapted from Caldwell and Hiebert’s 2019 picture book “God’s Big Planwith illustrator Katie Yamasaki, which was a Junior Library Guild selection. The board book features bright, ethnically diverse artwork by Yamasaki and it is available for purchase wherever books are sold.

Kirkus Reviews called the picture book edition of “God’s Big Plan,” “a provocative vehicle for introducing ideas of diversity to young readers.”

About Elizabeth F. Caldwell

Elizabeth F. Caldwell is a noted Christian educator, author, coeditor of “Growing in God’s Love: A Story Bible,” and an editor of the Common English Bible. She is Professor Emerita of Pastoral Theology at McCormick Theological Seminary and Visiting Professor in Religious Education at Vanderbilt Divinity School.

About Theodore Hiebert

Theodore Hiebert is Francis A. McGaw Professor of Old Testament Emeritus at McCormick Theological Seminary, where he served as a member of the faculty and academic dean, and was an editor and translator of the Common English Bible. A leading scholar among theological educators, he has done groundbreaking work in the study of Genesis.
