Congo, Togo among the places where he served over three decades of mission work

LOUISVILLE — On Jan. 21, the Rev. Dr. Donald F. Bobb was called to the Lord he faithfully served for 92 years.
According to his obituary published in the Jan. 27 edition of the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman, the longtime missionary was born June 1, 1926 in Dallas to Paul and Ruth Hogue Bobb.
For decades he served as pastor, counselor, missionary, educator, activist and music man to countless people on several continents. Along with photographer Randy Kerr, he was the author of “Light of Congo: A Chronological Anthology of Historical and Experiential Stories from Congo.”
He is celebrated by an extended family that includes his best friend Billye and his sister Marjory; children and stepchildren Scott, Hawa, Ben, Liz, Robin, Stella, Ruthie, David, Tom, Michael, Gail, Vicki, David and Jackie; grandchildren Patrice, Kimnada, Travis, Brian, Eric, Kalonji, Jonathan, Lisl, Nicolas, Alima, Nadia, Katy, David, Lucinda, Luke, Sam, Jason, Jessica and Amanda; and 30 great grandchildren.
His wives Mary and Mary Ellen preceded him in death.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 2, at Westminster Center in Austin.
