Westminster John Knox Press publishes two daily Lenten devotionals

LOUISVILLE — With Ash Wednesday set for Feb. 26, Lent is fast approaching. Westminster John Knox Press has recently released two daily devotionals for your faith journey this Lent.
Jill Duffield, editor of The Presbyterian Outlook, finds that God is at work in the ordinary in “Lent in Plain Sight: A Devotion through Ten Objects.” Through ordinary people, ordinary objects, ordinary grace, we hear God’s quiet voice. Duffield explores the ordinary in her daily devotional by introducing readers to 10 objects Jesus would have encountered on the way to Jerusalem: dust, bread, the cross, coins, shoes, oil, coats, towels, thorns and stones.
“Read this book,” says Thomas Currie III, professor emeritus of theology at Union Presbyterian Seminary and author of “The Joy of Ministry,” “and you will find the gospel in ordinary bread that becomes, for the pilgrim, the bread of life.”
Westminster John Knox Press’s second devotional comes from Donald McKim, “Living into Lent.” This resource encourages readers to embark on their Lenten journey together, setting aside time for reflection on our Christian identities, to listen to God’s will and to deepen our Christian experience through discipleship.
Both books are now available from Westminster John Knox Press and from other major retailers.
Jill J. Duffield is editor of The Presbyterian Outlook. She holds an MDiv from Union Presbyterian Seminary and a DMin from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a concentration in preaching. She lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Donald K. McKim is former academic dean and professor of Theology at Memphis Theological Seminary. He is author or editor of numerous books, including “Moments with Martin Luther: 95 Daily Devotions” and “Presbyterian Questions, Presbyterians Answers, Revised Edition.”
