Columbia Seminary names visiting professor of ethics, theology

Dr. Love Sechrest, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Columbia Theological Seminary, announced Tuesday that Wonchul Shin will be called as the Visiting Professor of Ethics and Theology, and Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow effective Aug. 26.

Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), told a packed Caldwell Chapel Friday during the inauguration of the seminary’s 10th president, the Rev. Dr. Alton B. Pollard III. “A new day is coming to this institution, a new day that has been ordained by God. Praise be to God for what God has in store for this work of ministry and faith.”

Anonymous donor gives Columbia Seminary $1M for Walker Presidential Scholarship

Columbia Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the creation of The Rev. Dr. Thomas W. and Jan C. Walker Presidential Scholarship. The new scholarship was made possible by an endowment gift of $1 million from an anonymous donor in honor of the lifetime of Christian service by the couple.

Why is it important for church leaders to have a voice in public media? This is among the topics to be explored by seminary students, pastors, church communicators and others during a March 20 event jointly sponsored by the Presbyterian Writers Guild and Columbia Theological Seminary.
