Two Presbyterians were among the series’ eight writers

LOUISVILLE — Journey to the Cross, the devotional series for Lent, returns to the devotional website and app d365.org beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 2, and continuing through Easter Sunday on April 17.
The series features scripture, prayer and meditative thoughts accompanied by gentle music.

The ecumenical team that wrote the meditations includes a pair of Presbyterians: the Rev. Allison Wehrung, associate executive presbyter of St. Andrew Presbytery and campus minister for UKirk Ole Miss, and the Rev. Dr. Chip Hardwick, interim executive for the Synod of the Covenant.
The team also includes the Rev. Meredith Forssman, editor of d365 and pastor at Bethelkirche in Stuttgart, Germany; Elizabeth Cervasio, missioner for Children, Youth, & Campus Ministry for the Episcopal Church in Colorado; Paris Ball, minister for Christian Formation & Camps in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia; Stephen Ingram, Pastor of Students, Missions and Adult Formation, Grace United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama; Courtney Willis, associate pastor for Faith Formation & Congregational Life at First Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina; and Jay Kieve, abuse prevention and response advocate & director of Ministerial Transitions for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Journey to the Cross features a collection of piano arrangements from Mark Hayes, an internationally known award-winning composer, arranger, concert pianist and conductor.

For d365’s Lenten Series, Hayes is allowing his latest album, Classics Revisited, to be streamed. Sheet music is available through The Lorenz Corporation. Each song combines a familiar hymn with excerpts of well-known classical music. The album is streaming now on digital music platforms.
