Executive presbyter to lead worship, panel discussion

Aisha Brooks-Lytle, executive presbyter at Greater Atlanta Presbytery, will lead a #metoo and #churchtoo discussion at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Atlanta on Jan. 27.
LOUISVILLE — Covenant Presbyterian Church in Atlanta will host the Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle, executive presbyter of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery, for worship and a panel discussion afterwards Jan. 27.
She will preach at the 11 a.m. service, followed by a discussion on the social media movements #metoo and #churchtoo. The event, at 2461 Peachtree Road NE, is free and open to the public.
Like its predecessor #metoo, #churchtoo is a movement that started on social media to bring to light the sexual harassment, abuse and assault that happens within churches and faith communities. According to the Faith Trust Institute, #churchtoo is a movement that aims to erase the reality of sexual abuse within sacred places and create lasting change within them.
“We are delighted to welcome Rev. Brooks-Lytle to our church and invite all who are interested to join us for worship and a program on the church’s response to the #metoo movement,” the Rev. Richard Hill, Covenant’s senior pastor, said in a news release. “We hope to generate a dialogue on women’s experiences across generations and the response to #metoo.”
Brooks-Lytle is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of Temple University. After working as youth director at Wayne Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, she earned a master’s degree in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. She leads the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, a network of 92 churches and more than 400 clergy, which connects, equips and empowers congregations and people to carry out their missions — especially those objectives particular churches cannot accomplish alone.

Betsy Holland was recently elected to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 54, the Buckhead neighborhood around Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is director of culture and engagement for the Turner Broadcasting System, where she previously worked as director of corporate responsibility and civic affairs. Holland serves or has served on numerous boards and organizations, including the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools and The Atlanta Community ToolBank. She is an active member at Morningside Presbyterian Church, where she serves as a deacon, teaches Sunday school and leads a women’s program that focuses on community issues and social justice.
The Rev. Jane Fahey was most recently the interim executive for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, and previously was pastor at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. She has served several other local churches in an interim capacity, Including Trinity Presbyterian Church in Buckhead. She attended Columbia Theological Seminary after a distinguished legal career as a partner at Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore in Atlanta and as a clerk to former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
