April 8 is International Romani Day, celebrating the Romani (Roma) culture, history and people and raising awareness of the issues they face. The Roma are the largest minority group in Europe and are commonly known in the English-speaking world as “Gypsies,” a perjorative term. Min-Hee Kim was one of 12 young women sponsored by the Racial Ethnic & Women’s Ministries Young Women’s Leadership program who participated in the United Nations’ 61st CSW. Each year the ministry provides scholarships to young Presbyterian women from around the world to attend the event. Read more »

If you go to a church that follows the Revised Common Lectionary, you may have heard (or preached) a sermon last Sunday based upon the story of Mary, Martha and their brother Lazarus (John 11:1-44). U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to revive the coal industry and closely scrutinize the previous administration’s Clean Power Act is being met with strong opposition among leaders in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). A recent research release from the Barna Group suggests parents and youth ministry leaders have differing views on the goals of youth ministry. The report, “Pastors and Parents Differ on Youth Ministry Goals” is derived from the comprehensive “State of Youth Ministry” study released last November in cooperation with youth ministry resource organizations Youth Specialties and YouthWorks. Presbyterian World Mission is celebrating the life and mourning the death of the Rev. Dr. Mulumba Musumba Mukundi, general secretary of the Presbyterian Church of Congo (CPC) and Rector of the Sheppards & Lapsley Presbyterian University of Congo. Born in February 1945, he passed away on the morning of March 29. Read more »
