For her talk last week at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, author and journalist Michele Norris gathered prominent Minnesotans — including the state’s lieutenant governor — to take turns sharing various people’s six words on race.

Matthew Desmond, the author of the 2023 book “Poverty, by America,” made a 15-minute online appearance Monday to help launch a four-week PC(USA)-wide study of his best-seller. More than 260 people were present to hear from Desmond, the Maurice P. During Professor of Sociology at Princeton University, whose 2017 book, “Evicted,” won the Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction. They also discussed the first two chapters in small groups. 
The Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery and the congregation of Martin Luther King Jr. Community Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Massachusetts, look forward to a March 2 gala designed to “raise money and celebrate — and raise spirits as well,” the church’s pastor said. 
An action aimed at Walgreens took center stage last week as the Presbyterian Committee on Mission Responsibility Through Investment (MRTI) continued its efforts to persuade the company to bring its practices in line with Presbyterian policy on the issue of reproductive health access.
