Mission Agency Receives Clean Audit for 2017

The 2017 financial statements for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), A Corporation, have received a “clean opinion” from their independent auditors, indicating they believe the statements “present fairly, in all material respects,” A Corporation’s financial position and operations. The 2017 audit was conducted by MCM CPAs & Advisors LLP. This is the first year that MCM has audited the financial statements for the A Corporation. Read more »

Melting snow creates flooding problems in Montana

Melting snow has caused serious flooding problems in Montana. Last week, Governor Steve Bullock declared a flooding emergency in seven counties as well as the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. The governor says the rapid snowmelt poses a serious threat to homes, farms and other infrastructures such as roads. Read more »

Generosity flourishes in the midst of tragedy

Stewardship season was in full swing at Healdsburg (California) Community Church last fall when tragedy struck. Raging wildfires in Sonoma County wiped out vast residential areas within 20 miles of the church. Every church member — even those whose own homes were safe — knew people affected by the fires. Minute for Mission: Memorial Day

The battle had begun just over a month before, on Feb. 19, 1945. In the intervening 29 days, combat had raged 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In one particularly bloody battle, the Meat Grinder, 850 Marines had lost their lives. On March 21, the time had come to commemorate the more than 6,800 who had given their lives on the American side. Nearly 20,000 Japanese draftees had defended the rough rock island of Iwo Jima.
