Dear sisters, brothers and friends, supporters of God´s mission in Colombia:

I write this letter to thank you for your financial and prayer support during this year.

Your contributions allow me to continue to serve with our church partner in Colombia, the Presbyterian Church of Colombia.

A little word about the hard work of our ecumenical partner, the Reformed University of Colombia. Following the requirements of the Colombian Department of Education that all universities must have professors with certification to teach at the college level, this year the Reformed University provided all professors with a teaching certification course.

My work group, which included four psychologists, one musician, two theologians, one engineer and one biologist, focused on postcolonial education.

For our final project, we reflected on how the world has changed from the past to the present. Cars have changed, clothing has changed, and homes have changed, but the school has not. So, we showed through some practical examples that our current educational program must change from traditional education to contextual education.

Part of the work group.

This new education must produce new theories, new concepts, new epistemologies, new methodologies and new practices that represent the Colombian and the Latin American cultures, leaving behind imported concepts, practices and theories.

As I write this letter, I am in Bogotá, the Colombian Federal Capital, teaching an intensive course on Old Testament to the Central Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Colombia from December 4-7. I am working with a wonderful group of pastors and church leaders, women and men, youth and adults (see my Facebook page: César Carhuachín in Colombia if you want to read more about it). It is wonderful to see them working together, responding to all written questions and sharing their answers with the whole group of 50 people. Please keep them in your prayers.

Again, thanks for your support this year of my ministry in Colombia. May the Lord bless your family and congregation, giving you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2018.
