“This is What the Lord Almighty says: In Those days and at that time I will make a righteous branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land” (Jeremiah 33:12a, 15).
“In the past God spoke to our fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:1,2).
Dear friends and families.
I greet you with the peace of Christ our Lord and Savior. Continually I give thanks to God for he is faithful and able to keep his promises in the past, in these last days, in our days until the end of the days. I thank God for fulfilling his promise to send His son Jesus Christ to do the redeeming work on the cross on our behalf and to make peace with God and peace among the people of the earth. I pray the Lord will give you happy times celebrating the fulfillment of his promise of many blessings on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I trust the Lord will fill you with the assured hope of his justice and righteousness in the land and to eternity. I thank you all for continuing to be faithful and active partners with the Lord to share the love, peace and justice with others locally and internationally.
Praise the Lord for He is merciful and has helped us through the summer heat and has led us into the fall with its pleasant weather and regular schedules. The education center classes have started and is now in full gear. I have been able to share the Gospel with students in the English conversation class.
Other classes include the Greek classes. The first class is for beginners and groups with particular challenges. The second class is an advanced class for those preparing to take the state proficiency exam so they will be able to obtain Greek citizenship, and the third class is for those who want to improve their reading and speaking skills. The instructor Perikli likes the Greek language very much and he emphasizes the importance of learning the Greek language for inclusion in the Greek society. We have fun when Perikli joins us in the weekly coffee time and helps us practice our Greek lessons.
The Greek Evangelical Church in Katerini, through Perichoresis, continues to support and encourage the inclusion of the refugees making them feel welcome by offering help and sustenance in many ways.
There are about five Kurdish families still living in Katerini. One of the children of a family of five children broke his foot two years ago when he was 16 years old. The family’s asylum request had been rejected and they were ordered to leave Greece, but the Red Cross stopped the deportation order until the son’s foot was completely healed. The family went through many hospitals and treatments, but they were not able to have surgery because he had a D3 deficiency and other medical issues. The son was in a wheelchair for two years until a member of the church advocated for the family. Subsequently, God moved many people’s hearts. They started investigating and searching for ways to help the family and, to God be the glory, in God’s appointed time He showed favor to the son who had four surgeries on his foot. He is now receiving physical therapy, and the church is helping the family with the living and medical expenses.
I thank God that He gave me the chance to help with translation on many occasions. The immigration laws have changed again, and the family now has the opportunity to apply for a work permit visa and they do not need to leave Greece. I thank the Lord for being able to make all things work for good for those who love God. Many people from the church are praying for this family that they come to the saving knowledge of God’s love for them through the love of the members of the Greek Evangelical Church for the glory of God.
Today (October 28), in Greece they celebrate the Ohi, “No” Day. Greeks remember the brave Greek resistance to the Italian invasion during World War II in 1940. The Greeks celebrate by decorating most buildings with Greek flags, marching in school and military parades and lots of flag waving.
I thank God for keeping Greece safe in the middle of all tribulations in many areas around Greece.
Thank you so much for your continuing interest in reading about what the Lord is doing in Greece and thank you for your prayers encouragement and financial support that helps me to be an eyewitness to what God is doing here among the displaced people of Ukraine and other nations. I pray the Lord encourages you more as you share the love of God with many near and far and I trust God to bless you in return with many folds.
Serving God with you,
Nadia Ayoub
