In fact, livestock production (beef, pork, chicken, etc.) accounts for <strong>18% of all the global warming gases<\/strong> humans emit into the atmosphere&#8211;which is more than all the emissions from transportation. Yes, more than all vehicle emissions in the world! (The study, called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/ag\/magazine\/0612sp1.htm\"><strong>Livestock&#8217;s Long Shadow<\/strong><\/a>, was done by the UN&#8217;s Food and Agriculture Organization.) <a href=\"http:\/\/stepitup2007.org\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: left;margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" title=\"Stepitup2_banner_06\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/stepitup2_banner_06.gif\" alt=\"Stepitup2_banner_06\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Yesterday, people around the U.S. organized 1,400+ events to call on our politicians to Step It Up to create policies to reduce carbon emissions by 80% by 2050.
