\nWe are in the third year of the three year Revised Lectionary Cycle, which means we are deep in the Gospel of Luke. <\/p>\n

There is a lot of food in Luke. From the opening page where the baby Jesus is deliberately placed by the narrator in a animal food trough to the end where the risen Jesus eats fish with the disciples. Robert Karrris \u2013 a scholar and writer \u2013 points out that in most of Luke Jesus is pretty much either on his way to a banquet, at a banquet, or on his way from a banquet where he has probably disturbed the powers-that-be with challenging questions and annoying parables or where he dared to dine with sinners and other low-lifes. Karris points out that in Luke\u2019s Gospel,  \u201cJesus got himself killed because of the way he ate.\u201d <\/p>\n
