\nEarly Monday morning, I rode my bicycle down Frankfort Ave amidst the devastation from 75 mile-an-hour winds of the day before. Giant oak trees that had stretched to the sky two days prior lay on their sides – broken. I whizzed through intersections with blackened traffic lights as one might after the apocalypse.<\/p>\n

Just before Ewing Avenue, in the middle of the Methodist Church parking lot, there was a man with a table of fresh vegetables and melons surrounded by hungry shoppers. The Kroger supermarket was (and still is) closed, 200,000 or so were without power, and this local farmer was doing a brisk business.<\/p>\n

Now that’s a picture of food security.<\/p>\n
