To date, over 1,600 people have died and around 14 million people have been affected by the floods in Pakistan which have followed the country\u2019s worst monsoon rains in 80 years. Sir John Holmes, the Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and the Emergency Relief Coordinator at the UN, has stated that \u201cif we don\u2019t act fast enough, many more people could die of disease and food shortage\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
