First invitation:
The 2020 Food Week of Action is coming soon – and you are invited to be a co-sponsor as about six of you did last year. Co-sponsoring just means that you will add your congregation’s name to the cosponsors list and highlight the anti-hunger and pro-justice work you and others are doing during October – and especially during Food Week from Oct. 11-18.
This year’s Food Week of Action – Hopeful Harvest – is more important than ever! Famine and food crises threaten people around the globe. Yet, at the same time, the climate crisis and pandemic have helped us feel our interdependence and realize how essential farmers and food workers are to our survival. Plan on participating!
Find everything you need at www.pcusa.org/foodweek.
Email php@pcusa.org to cosponsor Food Week!
World Food Day (Oct. 16) is why we choose these dates for Food Week each year and on that day we will announce the new Hunger Action Congregations. If you became an HAC in 2017, please make sure to renew before the end of this month. (I sent a reminder recently. Just go to www.pcusa.org/hac to reapply.)
Second invitation:
Consider joining us for this series if you wish to learn more about the Green New Deal. The GND is a legislative platform that has potential to revamp our economy and energy systems in ways that create living wage jobs as people transition from the fossil fuel economy to a more green and just economy. Starting TODAY – Sept. 24, we’ll use a new Green New Deal video workshop curriculum. We’ll also take a look at the PC(USA)’s report and recommendations in “Investing in a Green Future: A Vision for a Renewed Creation.” Register at bit.ly/php-gnd
