This event is a one-hour live Zoom presentation entitled: “Decolonizing the ‘First Thanksgiving’ Myth. Historical documentation is used to explain the realities of the myth and why many Native American people do not “celebrate” Thanksgiving Day. It also emphasizes how modern Americans can still conduct a “Thanksgiving Day” reconciling the concerns of Native Americans and offering a Day of Thanks emphasizing Christian values of “Loving your neighbor as yourself.”
