The Iglesia Evangelica Domincana, Dominican Evangelical Church (IED) is the oldest Protestant church in the Dominican Republic. It is the product of U. S. Presbyterian and Methodist mission work in the late 1800’s and celebrated its 90th anniversary as an independent church in 2012. With over 13,000 members in 45 organized congregations and multiple “preaching points” around the country, the IED is very active in evangelism/new church development and Christian Education; educational ministries (Schools and vocational training schools owned and operated by local or national church bodies) and medical outreach (17 permanent medical clinics, various water projects, and one family therapy center). Outreach to Haitians living in the DR has included medical assistance, documentation for residency status, and outreach to new Haitian mothers in maternity hospitals. (E048004)
